The Famous KFC!

A beautiful story that every entrepreneur must know. The famous restaurant chain ‘KFC’ traces back its origin to the 1950’s when the first branch of KFC was opened at Utah, USA.

Harland Sanders was born in 1890 in Indiana. Having lost his father early, he had an additional responsibility of saving the family at a very young age. He worked at fuel stations and made a living! He purchased a small piece of land near the fuel station and turned it into a mini roadside restaurant and sold ham and chicken!

With the invention of pressure cooker, Sanders remodified it slightly to cook Fried Chicken without taking much time and this was a major breakthrough in the fast food industry!

Later, due to his famous secret recipe of fried chicken, his restaurant became famous! He was awarded the ‘Colonel of Kentucky’ title by the Government. Sanders decided to expand his business and made a deal with a restaurant in Utah, which later became the first ever KFC restaurant!

He identified the potential power of franchising concept and decided to open new franchises across USA. His face was painted as the logo and the company was named ‘Kentucky Fried Chicken’. The bucket chicken became their trademark item on the menu!

Apart from Fried chicken, they added many items to their menu. KFC was one of the pioneers in franchising and now stands as the second largest fast food franchisee in the world!
